Our Retaining Wall Services Across Brisbane

Eight ways of holding a slope, each suited to a different height, budget and site. Start with the one that matches what you have, or work back from the problem if you are not sure which wall you need yet.

Choosing between retaining walls for sloping blocks

The order most people work in is backwards. Material feels like the decision, but height, surcharge and drainage set the engineering first and the material follows from what the site and the access will take. A low garden terrace and a wall holding a driveway are different structures even when they end up the same length.

Two questions sort most of it. Does the wall plus any retained fill sit above one metre from natural ground level, and does anything load the soil behind it. If either is true, building approval and structural design to AS 4678 come into play, and that shifts you toward the systems that carry engineered loads. If neither is true, the field opens up and budget, appearance and access do the deciding.

Find a service in your suburb

Terrain changes the answer. The ridge suburbs, the creek belts and the small-lot infill pockets each throw up their own version of the same problem.

Not sure which wall you need?

Send the height, the length and whether a driveway, building, pool or second wall sits above the ground the wall has to hold. That is enough to say which of the eight is realistic for your site and whether approval is in play.

If you would rather see numbers first, the cost calculator gives an indicative band per wall type on the face-area basis quotes use.
